The Consortium of Digital Forensic Specialists (CDFS)

Peer networking and participation in professional associations are both integral components of keeping abreast of your field. The key word in that sentence is participation. Simply joining a group brings little value; volunteering and being actively engaged as time permits increases value exponentially.

Earlier this year I joined the The Consortium of Digital Forensic Specialists (CDFS). I had been watching this group develop since its inception, but quite frankly was over-committed at the time. The objectives and mission of the group, coupled with some of the respectable names involved in its inception, had me very intrigued. But there wasn't much news of the group's efforts then, so keeping up with their latest activities was arduous. That, my friends and colleagues, is no longer the case.

Shortly after joining CDFS, I volunteered for the Outreach Committee. The committee has been busy launching a new blog, updating the site, and sharing info via Twitter and LinkedIn.

I encourage other individuals, associations, working groups, and educational institutions involved in digital forensics to take a moment to learn more about CDFS by visiting their website at www.cdfs.org
